Chinese New Year Lecture, “In the Shadow of Great Power…”

The Institute of International Relations (IIR) along with the Faculty of Social Sciences will host a lecture to mark the start of the Chinese New Year on Friday 8th February, 2008 at the IIR Board Room from 3:00 p.m.

The lecture is entitled, “In the Shadow of Great Power-Emerging Power Rivalry: Rising China and the Caribbean Region” and will be presented by Dr. Gregory Chin of York University, Toronto.

Dr. Chin is the author of a new monograph entitled “China’s Automotive Modernisation: The Development State and Rival Firms, 1978-2001.” He is also a fellow of the Centre for International Governance Innovation and has held a research fellowship at Peking University. He is now teaching Global Politics and Asian Political Economy at York University, Toronto, Canada.
