CARPIMS

Who can apply?

The CARPIMS Project foresees individual mobility flows to:

  • Students (Master and Doctorate) and Academic and Administrative Staff of the Caribbean or Pacific Countries willing to develop their activity in one of the Caribbean or Pacific Partner Universities:
    • Full Master students will carry out their studies in the Caribbean or Pacific at a partner institution of the Project with the purpose of undertaking training leading to the award of a Full Master’s Degree. (Maximum 22 months)

      Caribbean or Pacific Countries applicants » Full Master (22 months)
      In order to be eligible for a CARPIMS scholarship:

      • Must be nationals of one of the Caribbean or Pacific Countries;
      • Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries;
      • Must be eligible to undertake a Master’s Degree at a partner Institution by virtue of having already completed their Bachelor's course and graduated from a Caribbean or Pacific University on the moment of submitting the application);

      IMPORTANT: Please note that applicants cannot apply for Masters funding or PhD mobilities at their prior institution of study.
      For example, applicants who received their undergraduate degree from The University of the West Indies (UWI) cannot apply for Masters funding or PhD mobilities funding at UWI (all campuses).

      • Applicants must identify their Target Group:
        • Target Group I applicants »  African, Caribbean and Pacific nationals and residents (students and staff) registered in one of the HEIs that is a member of the partnership
        • Target Group II applicants » African, Caribbean and Pacific nationals and residents (students) registered in a HEI of the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries that is not included in the partnership, or who have obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from an institution of these countries.

      In addition to these criteria, there may be others defined internally by the partner institution to which you are applying. It is strongly recommended that applicants liaise with the institution’s contact person before preparing their application.

    • Full Doctoral students will carry out their studies in the Caribbean or Pacific at a partner institution of the Project with the purpose of undertaking training leading to the award of a Full Doctorate (PhD). (Maximum 36 months)

      Caribbean or Pacific Countries applicants » Full Doctorate (36 months)
      In order to be eligible for a CARPIMS scholarship:

      • Must be nationals of one of the Caribbean or Pacific Countries;
      • Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries;
      • Must be eligible to undertake a Doctoral Degree at a partner Institution (applicants must have already completed their Masters course and graduated from a Caribbean or Pacific University at the moment of submitting the application).

      IMPORTANT: Please note that applicants cannot apply for Masters funding or PhD mobilities at their prior institution of study.
      For example, applicants who received their undergraduate degree from The University of the West Indies (UWI) cannot apply for Masters funding or PhD mobilities funding at UWI (all campuses).

      Full PhD scholarships are only available to Target Group I Candidates:

      • Target Group I applicants » African, Caribbean and Pacific nationals and residents (students and staff) registered in one of the HEIs that is a member of the partnership

    • Sandwich Doctorate students will carry out their research at a partner institution for a period of 10 months. During this time the students will remain enrolled in their PhD program and will return once the mobility period has ended.

      In order to be eligible for a CARPIMS scholarship, applicants:

      • Must be nationals of one of the Caribbean or Pacific Countries;
      • Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries;
      • Must be enrolled in a Doctorate programme at an institution in the Caribbean or Pacific Regions
      • Applicants must identify their Target Group:
        • Target Group I applicants »  African, Caribbean and Pacific nationals and residents registered in one of the HEIs that is a member of the partnership
        • Target Group II applicants » African, Caribbean and Pacific nationals and residents registered in a HEI of the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries that is not included in the partnership, or who have obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from an institution of these countries

    • The Academic and Administrative Staff will spend a one month period   at a partner institution of the Project. During this period, the staff member will pursue activities leading to the exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences.
