PROFILE
For Dr. Hussein Thompson, the complexity and beauty of life as a whole far outweigh that of any algorithm; although the latter, along with other mathematical conundrums, have a special attraction for this Lecturer and recent PhD graduate. A man with a strong commitment to his God, family, country and region, Dr. Thompson sees himself as giving back to those who have enabled his development. In 2002 he received his BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from The University of the West Indies’ Cave Hill Campus in Barbados and went on to pursue his PhD under the supervision of Professor Pranay Chaudhuri who is also featured in this publication. In keeping with his vision of re-investing in the Caribbean, Thompson joined the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics at UWI Cave Hill in February 2007 as an Assistant Lecturer, just a few months before being awarded his PhD in Computer Science (with high commendation) in October 2007.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Thompson’s research interests include distributed systems, self-stabilization, algorithms and complexity analysis, as well as applied graph theory.
